Wandering Out Loud

Nikki. Garden State.

"Let’s just allow ourselves to be whatever it is we are."

“If you have the power to make someone happy, do it. The world needs more of that.”

If I have a dream about you I expect you to feel it. We just shared an adventure bro don’t be so rude

It’s wonderful how, with no warning and without even trying, we will randomly stumble across new favorite songs, new favorite artists, new favorite books, new favorite movies, new favorite games, new favorite shows, new favorite snacks, new passions, new hobbies, new interests, new favorite blogs and new favorite people. So when things are terrible, hold onto the fact that someday, possibly when you least expect it, you’ll suddenly come across something wonderful!

have you ever noticed you pick up little habits and phrases from the people you love? it’s no wonder our hearts are so easily broken when people leave. we become a reflection of the people that we care about and those personality traits stick with us even if the people don’t

I make my ramen the way a friend taught me in eleventh grade. Every fall, I listen to a playlist made for me by a boy I drove across a border to hook up with. I eat sushi because a girl who won’t talk to me anymore made me try it, and Indian food because my best friend’s parents ordered for me before I knew what I liked. There are movies I love because someone I loved loved them first. I am a mosaic of everyone I’ve ever loved, even for a heartbeat.

i make string bracelets just like a girl at camp taught me, i call people darling just like my first girlfriend did, i eat goldfish crackers because it reminds me of a childhood friend i miss, i listen to one song because that was the song playing when i met a stranger on a bus and talked for 30 minutes. i stir things just like my grandmother taught me to, i am the product of all the people who have touched my life.

thebookquotes:

Don’t just learn, experience. Don’t just read, absorb. Don’t just change, transform. Don’t just relate, advocate. Don’t just promise, prove. Don’t just criticize, encourage. Don’t just think, ponder. Don’t just take, give. Don’t just see, feel. Don’t just dream, do. Don’t just hear, listen. Don’t just talk, act. Don’t just tell, show. Don’t just exist, live.

Roy T. Bennett, The Light in the Heart

wishbzne:

“I am convinced that most people do not grow up. We find parking spaces and honor our credit cards. We marry and dare to have children and call that growing up. I think what we do is mostly grow old. We carry accumulation of years in our bodies and on our faces, but generally our real selves, the children inside, are still innocent and shy as magnolias.”

Maya Angelou, from Letter to My Daughter

ah yes the five love languages

- making a cup of tea just how they like it

- peeling a tangerine and sharing the slices

- buying their favourite snack or drink when you see it randomly while shopping

- making a warm meal and serving it in bed when they’re sick

- cutting up slices of fruit for them

wnq-writers:

“Adventure… truly, is a romance with life. And I will fall in love with you. I will fall in love with myself. And most of all, I will fall in love with people. I will fall in love with art. I will fall in love with the wisps of souls left behind. I will fall in love with your smile, I will fall in love with these moments I share with strangers. I will fall so hard, no bruise, cut or scrape will soften my descent.”

blue whales are the largest animal ever recorded, like you literally need to be in a helicopter to actually see one in from a perspective with zero distortion. idk i just feel pretty lucky to be alive on earth at the same time as them and they don’t even want to kill me. they just wanna use their toothbrush mouthes to filter the ocean of smol ocean bugs. they have communities and they sing to each other to communicate. work is slow im sorry happy friday whales r so cool
